About multiple sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body.

Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted/ but advances in research and treatment are leading to better understanding and moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 501 with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 2.3 million worldwide.

About the National Multiple Sclerosis Society

The Society mobilizes people and resources so that everyone affected by multiple sclerosis can live their best lives as we stop MS in its tracks, restore what has been lost and end MS forever.
To fulfill this mission, the Society funds cutting-edge research, drives change through advocacy, facilitates professional education, collaborates with MS organizations around the world, and provides services designed to help people with MS and their families move their lives forward. Last year alone, through our comprehensive nationwide network, the Society devoted $122.2 million to help more than one million individuals connect to the people, information and resources they need. To move closer to a world free of MS, the Society also invested $54 million to support more than 380 new and ongoing research projects around the world.

Early and ongoing treatment with an FDA-approved therapy can make a difference for people with multiple sclerosis. Learn about your options by talking to your health care professional and contacting the National MS Society at nationalMSsociety.org or 1-800-344-4867.

Know Your Local: Zaza's Pasta

April 30, 2017, 1:00pm - April 30, 2017, 3:00pm

NewBo City Market
1100 3rd St SE
Cedar Rapids, IA  52401 Map

Join us, for a new series called Know Your Local with Zaza's Pasta!

Know your local is centered around the creative and entrepreneurial people doing awesome things in the corridor. Businesses from around the area come to NewBo City Market and show people why they do what they do, and what drives them to make it a success. Each Know Your Local has a "hands on" experience.

Julie’s secret ingredient is local, organic flour from Early Morning Harvest! Most commercial pastas use just semolina flour, but Julie adds a little unbleached organic flour that’s been grown and milled right here in Iowa to give her pastas a flavor and texture more like that of fresh pasta. Julie is really passionate about local foods and making them accessible to everyone. When she heard NewBo City Market was in need of a pasta vendor, she jumped on the chance to be a part of the Market.

Zaza’s Pastas are completely vegan as they are made without any eggs or dairy. They also cook up in only 3-4 minutes so you can have a healthy, flavorful meal on the table in just minutes. Try one of her unique flavored pastas like Garlic-Chive or Mediterranean Herb to really spice up your normal pasta night.

Stop by and meet Julie to find out why everyone loves Zaza's Pasta!

Rock The Block: Alisabeth Von Presley

Alisabeth Von Presley: A rocker raised on a well balanced diet of Michael Jackson, Pat Benatar, and a plateful of glitter. This Iowa girl has left a memorable impact on stages from Los Angeles to New York -- with stops at "American Idol" and "Cabaret In The Courtyard" in between. Performing on the heels of her new singles - this Iowa native performs with a flair for the dynamic and theatrical; she's most easily described -- can she be easily described? -- as a "passionate performance roller-coaster tied up in pleather pants and sequin stilettos." Or as one musical critic wrote, “when Alisabeth sings, the neon rainbow melts into a swirling puddle."
