Zaza’s Pasta

Julie’s secret ingredient is local, organic flour from Early Morning Harvest!  Most commercial pastas use just semolina flour, but Julie adds a little unbleached organic flour that’s been grown and milled right here in Iowa to give her pastas a flavor and texture more like that of fresh pasta. Julie is really passionate about local foods and making them accessible to everyone.  When she heard NewBo City Market was in need of a pasta vendor, she jumped on the chance to be a part of the Market.

Zaza’s Pastas are completely vegan as they are made without any eggs or dairy.  They also cook up in only 3-4 minutes so you can have a healthy, flavorful meal on the table in just minutes.  Try one of her unique flavored pastas like Garlic-Chive or Mediterranean Herb to really spice up your normal pasta night.

The name for Zaza’s Pasta came about in a funny way.  It is a nickname given to Julie by her niece and nephew.  When she was their nanny, she would speak to them in Italian, hoping they might retain a few words.  In Italian the word for aunt is “Zia”.  But, at 18 months old, you can hardly expect the words to come out just right, so “Zia” became “Za-za” and it stuck.
