The yard squares are returning and so are the iconic summer events at NewBo City Market!
Market staff are re-painting the 99 socially-distant squares in the Market’s yard. Each square is eight-feet by eight-feet, spaced six feet apart and will allow for individuals or families to safely experience the Market.
The Market’s iconic summer events, like Rock the Block and Meet Me at the Market, are important for the small businesses within the Market and in the surrounding NewBo/ Czech Village neighborhood. Each year, they attract thousands of potential customers to support the small local businesses in the area.
Rock the Block
This June through September, supporting small local businesses is as easy as drinking an Iowa beer, eating some delicious local food and enjoying live local music in the Market Yard.
Rock the Block squares are eight-feet by eight-feet, spaced six feet apart, for up to six people. There are three ways to snag a square this summer.
Reservations
Season tickets are now available for purchase through June 3. When you reserve a $300 season ticket, you guarantee that your favorite square will be available for you and your group of up to six people every Friday, all summer long.
Weekly reservations for specific concerts can also be made for $20 per square on Eventbrite. Links to weekly reservation portals will be shared on Facebook a week prior to the upcoming concert. This portal will close the Thursday before each concert.
First come, first served
This year, squares that have not been reserved are open to the public free of charge on the day of the concert.
Who’s playing?
On May 28th, the Market will host the first Rock the Block concert of the season, which will continue through September 24th. The Full Circle Band will be the first band to grace the Bankers Trust Stage at Rock the Block 2021, and the rest of the summer lineup includes:

Meet Me at the Market
Every Thursday from June through September, community members can meet in the Market Yard at 6 p.m. for free guided walks, runs, bike rides and yoga classes.
No pre-registration is required and yoga squares are available on a first come, first served basis. These squares are eight-feet by eight-feet, spaced six feet apart, for one participant to use as they please.
On June 3, the Market will host the first Meet Me at the Market of the season.
